‘Van Mahotsav’is an annual tree planting festival which was started in the year 1950 by K. M Munshi, the Union Minister for Agriculture and Food. With the perspective of creating environmental awareness on this National festival, a plethora of activities were organised on Wednesday, 14 August 2019 in the school premises. The students of Grades I – V participated with full interest and vigour as they took the pledge to plant more trees and save the mother Earth. They also stressed upon the need of saving the motherland from global warming and different issues emerging out of environmental pollution. ‘Tree Plantation Activity’ was conducted for the students of Grades I and II and they also promised to grow more plants. Our respected Principal ma’am, Dr. Ratna Chakravarty, motivated the students by planting a sapling in the school premises. The students of Grade III made attractive posters on the topic ‘Save Trees, Save Earth’ and displayed their masterpieces in various classrooms. The suggestions about how to save trees for the betterment of the whole nation were provided by the young Maxfortians of Grades IV and V.
The day was filled with excitement to think green and live green as the useful information was provided that spread the important messages on saving electricity, trees, animals and keeping the environment clean and safe. This was truly an onset to build up a pollution- free environment in the future.
